PUBLIC NOTICE, VILLAGE OF CHATHAM, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK.  NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR TENTATIVE VILLAGE BUDGET.   PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Chatham shall hold a public hearing on Monday, April 8th, 2024 beginning at 6:30PM at Tracy Memorial Hall, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY 12037 for the purpose of taking public comment on a tentative Village Budget.  At such public hearing, all interested persons shall have the opportunity to be heard.  Copies of the tentative proposed Village Budget are available in the Village Clerk’s Office, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY 12037. Columbia County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

Columbia County is updating its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, and the Village of Chatham is asking you to complete the Natural Hazard Risks Survey! The survey is intended to collect information from the public on natural hazards that have impacted each of Columbia County’s jurisdictions in the past and future, including extreme temperatures, flooding, fires, winds, severe winter weather, invasive species, and other natural hazards will be reviewed.
The last plan was adopted in 2018 and updates are required every five years. The current update efforts began in December 2023 and are ongoing. FEMA approval and jurisdictional adoptions of the updated plan are anticipated in December 2024.

PUBLIC NOTICE, VILLAGE OF CHATHAM, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK.  NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR PROPOSED LOCAL LAW ENTITLED “A LOCAL LAW REQUIRING REMOTE-READ WATER METERS.”  PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Chatham shall hold a public hearing on Monday, March 11, 2024 beginning at 6:50pm at Tracy Memorial Village Hall, 77 Main Street, Chatham, NY 12037 for the purpose of taking public comment on a proposed local law entitled “A Local Law Requiring Remote-Read Water Meters.”  This law would facilitate water meter readings, and to overcome access issues at private properties, would require that all newly installed or replaced water meters shall be readable by DPW personnel by remote device and without requiring direct access to the premises interior. “KISS” Shredding: 3/11/24 – 3/22/24; 8am-4pm

COLUMBIA COUNTY K.I.S.S. PROGRAM:  Seniors over sixty can bring sensitive documents to the Village Hall March 11, 2024 – March 22, 2024, 8am-4pm, for FREE destruction.  Village residents’ documents will be signed over to the Clerk and will be placed into a secure, locked container immediately.  This container cannot be unlocked by any County or Village employee, only by the shredding vendor.

Public Notice Permissive Referendum

TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to section 6-a of the New York General Municipal Law, a Resolution establishing a capital reserve fund entitled “Village of Chatham Hudson & Houseman Avenues Water Main Reserve Fund” was adopted by the Village of Chatham Board of Trustees on January 8, 2024. Such Reserve Fund is established to accumulate and set aside three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) for specific capital expenditures necessary for the Village of Chatham water system consisting of replacement of water main along Hudson Avenue from Church Street to Cemetery Hill and along the entire length of Houseman Avenue. The adoption of such Resolution to establish such Reserve Fund is subject to a permissive referendum, and the establishment of such Reserve Fund shall take effect February 8, 2024, unless, in accordance with Article 9 of the New York State Village Law, within thirty days after the adoption of the Resolution to establish such Reserve Fund there be filed with the Village Clerk a petition protesting against its adoption and requesting that it be submitted to the electors of the Village.
