CPD Traffic Advisory

Columbia County Fair 2024
The end of the summer is marked by the Columbia County Fair in the Village of Chatham, NY. The fair runs Wednesday, August 28th through Monday, September 2nd.
There will be multiple times throughout the week when vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be heavier than normal. The Chatham Police Department, together with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department and NYS Troopers, will work diligently to streamline traffic flow and alleviate potential delays due to increased volume while traveling through the Village.
The annual Columbia County Firefighter’s Parade will take place on Saturday, August 31st. Once the parade begins, travel through and around the Village will be heavily impacted. Expect multiple street closures around the Village from 11AM to 1PM, in addition to parking restrictions on Kinderhook Street and Woodbridge Avenue. Historically, the Village also experiences an increase in traffic around the fairgrounds on Sunday during the Fair.
You will see an altered traffic pattern on Hudson Avenue/State Route 66 as you near the Fairgrounds entrance. The lanes will be designated by cones and signs will be posted. Please slow down and pay close attention to all signage to make sure you are in the correct lane. It is recommended that residents and businesses plan accordingly. The full fair schedule can be found at https://www.columbiafair.com/
Public safety is our top priority. The Chatham Police Department will be managing traffic and will have officers working outside the fairgrounds throughout the entire week of the fair. We look forward to working together with our community for another safe and successful annual Columbia County Fair in Chatham, NY.
